How is ABA therapy funded?

Getting Started under the German Social System:

Because German health insurance does not currently cover ABA services, families in the German social system may choose to either petition the Jugendamt or Sozialamt for funding or pay privately.

Getting started with funding from the Sozialamt or Jugendamt:
The following items are required prior to beginning therapy:

  • Step 1: You may have a suspicion that your child has autism. There are resources available to help you talk to your pediatrician.
  • Step 2: Discuss this suspicion with your pediatricion.
  • Step 3: Your pediatrician can refer your child to a local social pediatric center (SPZ) for a diagnosis. Should the diagnosis show deficits in communication or social behavior and your child as well as repetitive behavior, we highly recommend to contact one of the Autism specialized children and adolescent psychology centers
  • Step 4: These centers recommend evidence-based therapy. Our therapy fulfills these criteria. If you are interested in therapy at the Spark Center, please notify the diagnostics team. We can provide supporting documents to do so.
  • Step 5: Review our criteria to determine if your child qualifies for our services
  • Step 6: Contact us for a referral via phone (+49 711 83885899) or email at info@sparkcenter.de
    • If someone is not available to take your call, our director will contact you within 2 working days

Please be aware that the process for obtaining funding from a social service agency varies from case to case and may take anywhere from 6 months to 1 year. Funding for ABA services is not guaranteed.

There is also a possibility to start the therapy to pay privately. Please contact us if you would like additional information.
